There is an underlying problem in our society. It is far too often that false religion pollutes the layperson’s viewpoint of the Christian faith. This distorted viewpoint is part of what leads to many people moving as far away from Christ’s principles as possible. Personal hardship also contributes to this mindset, whether it be economic poverty, or emotional distress and personal wounding. One principal concept that separates false religion from true “religion” is the James 1:27 (ESV) Principle: “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”
If this is the problem, what’s the solution?
We Believe: God is Sovereign and rules over all areas of life. He wants His Church to take authority over all areas. There should be no division between the secular and the spiritual if life is to function as God created it to be. When the church properly teaches people how to function under kingdom authority in every area of their lives, the blending of God’s Word and good works causes the church to model God’s Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven (Mathew 6:10).
We Believe: We must address the moral and spiritual foundations upon which peoples lives are built in order to effect true change in the community as we also minister to their personal and material needs.
If we minister to personal and material needs, we as a collective Body can change individuals. If we change individuals, they will be empowered to take their families back. If families are being empowered, they will take back their community. And if communities are empowered…well the sky’s the limit.
So what will we do? We will seek to transform our urban communities to reflect the values of God’s Kingdom. We envision families regaining a sense of purpose, harmony and unity and becoming a stabilizing force in our society. We envision the security and stability of the family unit providing greater spiritual, emotional and mental health for the members of our society so that behaviors and practices that break down and poison our society such as substance abuse, domestic violence, divorce, teen pregnancy, gang violence and imprisonment are vastly reduced and replaced with people who are powerful, productive, and making genuine contributions to the general welfare of our communities and our nation.
Our Mission: Restoring our communities to dignity, by restoring and encouraging healthy families with a Christ-centered program designed to change the lives of individuals and create a safe, spiritually thriving environment for the residents.
To execute this mission, Jesus is Alpha and Omega Ministries (JAOM) will focus its organizational mission of EVANGELISM, DISCIPLESHIP AND APOLOGETICS into the creation and expansion of a Moral Development Center in the heart of a needy community that focuses on restoring dignity to that community through the restoration of the families of the residents by the life-changing power of Christ.
This Dignity Center and the programs offered within will be designed to provide a model for other centers in urban communities that are suffering from the effects of oppression, entitlement, inferiority complexes, and immorality which include: violent crime, drug abuse, increased poverty, gang activity, increased incarcerations, homelessness, increased school drop out rate, abortion, dysfunctional and broken families….that lead to an overall sense of hopeless.
The Dignity Center will be a production of Equipping the Saints for Outreach Coalition (ESOC) in cooperation with Equippers’ Bible Fellowship, and partnerships with other ministries.
